Cora has over 25 years of experience as an educator, primarily serving youth with special needs in urban communities. She has served a diverse student demographic from urban to rural communities within public, charter, and alternative educational settings in the state of Virginia, as well as North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the SDCA team, Cora had returned to the classroom to teach while completing her doctoral studies at Virginia Tech. She has since defended her dissertation research regarding the relationship among socioeconomic status, school leadership, and student achievement. Cora has a Virginia Post Graduate Professional Administration/Supervision license and has served previously as an instructional leader for children with disabilities in the capacity of Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and Principal in addition to her divisional leadership experience as Director of Professional Development and Human Resource Coordinator.
